Vorna Valley Door to Door Campaign on mandatory Separation@Source and Cleanup Campaign

Dear Residents,

Please note that the City of Johannesburg, Pikitup, Green Development Foundation and Phambili Environmental Services Officials will be visiting households in Vorna Valley on the 19th of October 2018 for the promotion of the Separation@Source programme (S@S) and the A Re Sebetseng voluntary clean-up campaign that will take place on the 20th October 2018.

The clean-up campaign will take place at Vorna Valley in Le Roux Avenue.
Time: 9h00 am
End time: 11h00 am

The Implementation of S@S is in line with CoJ’s Integrated Waste Management Plan (IWMP) and the Waste by-laws that are meant to mitigate against increasing waste generation, landfill airspace depletion, environmental degradation and pollution as a result of illegal dumping and littering.

The Waste Management By-laws, particularly Section 22, state that “we all have an Obligation to separate waste into recyclables and non-recyclables” therefore it is imperative for residents in the area to learn more about the S@S programme, to assist the City of Joburg to recycle huge quantities of recyclable materials in order to preserve landfill airspace and to protect the environment.
