Pikitup’s Midrand depot is running two days behind schedule after employees refused to work demanding the construction of a new depot.
Management and the disgruntled employees were able to resolve the impasse on Wednesday (25 May 2022) where after the employees returned to work on the same date.
A temporary structure to accommodate the employees is currently under construction in Ivory Park, Midrand.
Consequent to the work stoppage the depot is two days behind in terms of waste collection. A service recovery plan is being implemented to ensure that waste collection in areas serviced by Midrand depot returns to normal.
It is anticipated that the service delivery backlog will be resolved by Sunday 29 May 2022. The backlog will be addressed as indicated below:
Friday 27 May 2022 | Kikuyi, Jaskei View, President Park, Kyalami, BBQ Downs and Central |
Saturday 28 May 2022 | Vorna Valley, and Waterfall Country Villages |
Sunday 29 May 2022 | Noordwyk, Savanna, Polo Field, Waterfall Old Age Homes 1 and 2 and Waterfall Equestrian. |
Pikitup apologizes unreservedly for the inconvenience caused and appeals to residents in the affected areas to ensure that their waste bins are placed outside their properties for collection.
