How to participate?
All Jo’burg residents, schools, church groups, NGO’s and businesses are requested to participate.
1) Individuals - Take the initiative and form a group of friends and family. Try and persuade local clubs, societies and churches to get involved. Individuals are also welcome to come and assist.
Choose an area you want to clean up. If you require bags or Bins you can request them by registering on our web site or visiting one of the Pikitup Collection Points on 6 June.
2) Join a Pikitup team. Visit one of the Pikitup Collection Points on 6 June and you will be directed to an area that requires volunteers.
3) Learning Institutions - Heads and teachers are encouraged to instruct their learners to spend a couple of hours during the first week of June cleaning up their institution by collecting rubbish and placing it into bins and bags for Pikitup to collect.
4) Businesses — Company directors and managers are encouraged to get their employees to spend an hour cleaning up their immediate environment and surrounds.
11 Regions - 11 Teams
The city has been divided into 11 regions and each region will be managed by a Pikitup team.
In each region there will be lots of collection sites where you can take your rubbish.
If you want to clean up a specific site you can tell Pikitup where it is and they will supply you with a skip and/or plastic bags.
Join a Pikitup team where you live or work, if you want to help.
