COMMUNITY NOTICE - TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF GARDEN SITES
![]() |
Pikitup’s garden sites are filling up quite quickly, resulting in some of them being temporarily closed. The garden sites which are presently filled to capacity include Victory Park (Greenside), Panorama (Roodepoort), Balleyclare (Bryanston), Woodmead and Melrose. Pikitup, the City of Joburg’s waste management entity, is working on a plan to minimise the pressure at these affected sites. While this process is underway, the company implores residents to speak to the garden site attendant on duty, who will direct them to an available garden site at which residents are able to deposit their garden waste. Pikitup is committed to providing a resilient, liveable, sustainable urban environment — underpinned by infrastructure supportive of a low-carbon economy, in line with The Joburg 2040 strategy. Residents are urged to phone Joburg Connect on 011 375 5555 or 0860 JOBURG/ 0860 56 28 74 or to visit Pikitup’s website www.pikitup.co.zaif they would like more information regarding the garden sites. All written comments and complaints are to be sent to info@pikitup.co.za or joburgconnect@joburg.org.za. 01/06/2012 |
