Pikitup will be collecting refuse as usual over the festive season, even working on public holidays, to keep Joburg clean. RESIDENTS and business owners are rest assured that staff will be on duty over the festive seasonfor refuse collection. The City’s waste management entity says services will go ahead as usual through the holiday period, including on Friday, 16 December — the Day of Reconciliation — to Monday, 26 December — the Day of Goodwill — as well as on Monday, 2 January, the day after New Year’s Day. According to Pikitup, its garden sites will also be fully operational during the public holidays except on Christmas Day, which falls on Sunday this year. Residents are also reminded that clean builders’ rubble can be disposed of free of charge at any of the City’s four landfill sites, namely: Robinson Deep, Marie Louise, Goudkoppies and Ennerdale.
