ikitup’s “Pitch In” campaign on June 5 is expected to draw up to 150 000 participants this year, according to the organisers. ADT Security Johannesburg is again this year “pitching in” to ensure the safety of all involved and, in addition, has adopted Delta Park as a clean-up site.
Managing Director of ADT Johannesburg Roy Rawlins explains that ADT has partnered with Pikitup and will be providing a security presence across the collection sites in the Johannesburg Metropolitan region. It was a natural extension of this partnership to adopt the Delta Park area as an ADT clean-up site, he says.
“There is a definite correlation between the environment and crime and we know that a cleaner environment is a safer environment. Delta Park borders a big section of our operational footprint in Johannesburg and our experience tells us that such greenbelt areas attract unwelcome activity and persons. While we conduct ongoing crime ‘clean ups’ along this greenbelt with the SAPS, June 5 provides us with an exceptional opportunity for our staff and the communities we serve to do their bit towards our belief that ‘a cleaner Johannesburg is a safer Johannesburg’.”
ADT Security’s General Manager Mike Kidson and Reaction Officer William Themane encourage everyone to join the company’s efforts to clean up Delta Park on June 5. ADT has also partnered with Pikitup to provide security services across the clean-up sites on the day.
Roelf de Beer, General Manager: Marketing, at Pikitup, says ADT’s involvement at last year’s event contributed greatly to an incident-free day. “We look forward to the same this year and are assured, as the public can be, that ADT has the resources and expertise to manage all the security needs on our clean-up day.”
Rawlins states that Pikitup has ADT’s full support and commitment to its efforts on June 5 and can expect a professional and proactive security service on the day. “Cleaning up the environment demands more than lip service from the public and private sectors; it calls for a plan of action and the resources and commitment to implement it. ADT is committed to sustaining its involvement with Pikitup’s initiatives and challenges other corporates and communities to the do the same.”
ADT invites the community to join forces with its team at Delta Park. Not only does June 5 mark World Environment Day, but also marks six days to kick off! All the more reason for everyone to “pitch in”, Rawlins concludes.
