Residents advised not to hand out “Christmas Boxes” to Pikitup staff Pikitup would again like to advise the public that they should not hand out ‘Christmas Boxes’ to Pikitup staff or from any one claiming to be a Pikitup staff member. The company has taken a firm decision to quell the handing out of ‘Christmas boxes’ due to several problems experienced in the past, including the swindling of residents by impostors claiming to be Pikitup employees. Requesting a ‘Christmas box’ was a common practice by waste collector in yesteryears however; it has proven problematic in recent years. Pikitup employees have subsequently been instructed to stop the practice immediately and have been informed that disciplinary action will be taken against any staff member who is found soliciting gifts from residents. “It is in the best interest of the public and of Pikitup to disassociate with the practice of the Christmas box,” says Zami Nkosi, Managing Director of Pikitup. Residents who insist on rewarding the Pikitup refuse
collectors in their areas for services delivered should ensure that they are not
dealing with criminals and will be doing so at their own risk, warns Nkosi.
