When do you expect your recycling pilot to be complete and when we can expect this service in Weltevreden Park? The pilot project was initially scheduled to take place for 6-12 months however this has been prolonged to provide conclusive data. The findings of the project will inform Pikitup on the best way to roll-out Separation at Source throughout the City of Johannesburg. We urge residents to be patient as we fine tune Separation at Source ahead of this roll-out. For more information please contact Pikitup by dialling the Joburg Connect number 011 375 5555 or emailing us at info@joburgconnect.co.za |
| How can we participate if our area does not fall within the Waterval Area?
There is a Garden Refuse Site within easy reach of all home owners within the Johannesburg Area. These sites have recycling facilities for all Separation at Source items. Please take your recyclables to the Refuse Transfer Sites in the meantime. Please click on the link below to locate your nearest Garden Refuse Site.

To preserve the environment and to prolong landfill airspace which is running out. Once the landfill sites are full the city will pay a premium to transport waste long distances to landfills outside the City of Joburg boundaries. |

Yes, in fact it is a great help if you use the normal plastic bags to separate the categories of waste that you put into your clear, heavy duty plastic bag, i.e. cans in one, plastic bottles in another, glass in another, (please remember to be very careful when placing glass containers into the recycle bag. If you would like to wrap glass for recycling in newspaper for safety's sake, please do so. |

No not at all, green waste may be disposed of at any one of the Pikitup Garden Sites in your area, please refer to the website for more details - Garden Sites |

| Why is this project only being run in the Waterval Area?
This is a pilot project, this is why it is so important for all residents, businesses and schools in the Waterval Area to help make this a huge success. |
