Separation at Source - Recycling Project

The Waterval Region (Johannesburg) has been selected to participate in the Separation at Source recycling pilot project. Participation by all businesses and homes in the area is necessary in order to validate the study for future implementation and a possible roll out across the whole of Johannesburg. Pikitup staff have already visited some homes and businesses and will be coming to your neighbourhood soon. They will be delivering the new orange Ronnie bags, clear heavy-duty bags, a brand new black bin with a green lid and a sticker for your existing black bin to enable you to identify the items to be placed in relevant bags for successful recycling. We are here to help so please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this project.
Phase 1 : Education on the recycling process and your involvement

This is an ongoing programme to educate and empower all Waterval residents to participate in this very important study.
Phase 2: Delivery and collection of the orange Ronnie bags and clear heavy duty bags to and from your residence/business.
Delivery : The delivery of the orange Ronnie bags and the clear heavy duty bags will commence from Mid October 2009.
Collection: The first collection of the orange Ronnie bags and the clear heavy duty bags will commence in November 2009, and will continue thereafter on your stipulated collection days. You will be reminded of these collection days by a calender which will be attached to your bags delivered from Mid October 2009.
Phase 3 : Delivery and Collection of the black bin with a green lid. (Organic green/garden waste)
The delivery of your new black bin with a green lid for for organic (garden) waste will take place in 2010. These will be collected on regular collection days, together with the black general non-recyclable waste bins.
