The City Waste Management entity, Pikitup wishes to remind all residents whose refuse collection is due this Friday (Christmas Day), on the 25 December 2015, that there will be no collection on the day.  Instead, all affected residents are advised to put out their bins for a special refuse collection on Saturday, 26 December 2015.

We therefore urge these residents to keep their bins in their properties on Christmas Day, 25 December 2015.

The aim of this special refuse collection is to ensure that all residents of the City of Johannesburg enjoys a festive season in a healthy and clean environment.

All 42 gardens sites will be fully operational over the long weekend (Saturday, 26 Dec and Sunday, 27 Dec), respectively, from 8:00am to 17:00 pm. Residents who may have excess waste during this period should use these sites to dispose such waste. Normal refuse collection rounds will continue in accordance with the normal collection schedule.

Remember, waste is not simply something we throw away, it has economic value in the recycling economy.  The Pikitup website offers information on how to action this.

The City of Johannesburg is your HOME! Don’t trash it. Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
