Joburg Waste Management services resumes
The Board and Management of Pikitup welcomes the agreement reached to end the strike. The entity is confident that agreement paves the way for all concerned parties to begin constructive engagements around all substantive issues raised by the workers.
Given the huge backlogs that have accumulated over the strike period, the entity is now intensifying its recovery operations.
- Night shift
The Selby Depot which covers the Inner City worked overnight on Thursday, 03 Dec 2015 to catch up with some of the backlog, and are continuing with their refuse collection services as scheduled on Friday. Areas covered were Braamfontein, Fordsburg, Hillbrow (Illegal dumping) and CBD from Sophy Debryn until Prichard.
- Friday’s operations
Normal refuse collection services have resumed as per the refuse schedules in areas covered on Fridays by all Pikitup Depots.
- City-Wide Clean-ups
On Saturday, 05 Dec 2015 Pikitup together with the City’s Regions will be hosting City-wide clean ups! All residents are encouraged to join us for the clean-up in identified areas in their own suburbs or townships in a bid to rid the City of litter and illegally dumped waste. #Teamuptocleanup #Reclaimyourspace. Pikitup wishes to thank the residents and business owners of Joburg for their patience and cooperation. Residents who are not able to wait for their normal Refuse Collection schedule, are encouraged to drop off their waste at their nearest garden refuse site or landfill up until Friday, 11 Dec 2015. http://www.pikitup.co.za/find-a-facility/
